Mary Hoover-Smith, CEO Biography

I completed my education in 1992 at DeVry Institute of  Technology Columbus, Ohio Bachelor of Business Operations. I am the Founder of the Barbour County Resources, Inc.  Former Executive Director of Barbour County Resource Center, which has been in operation for over 4 years as a grass- root non-profit organization serving the distressed communities of  Barbour  County. I am experienced in the development, coordinating and implementation of prevention programs. I have developed partnerships between community leaders, parents, and at-risk youth; to obtain sufficient funds and resources that allowed us to provide prevention services for the past 4 years. I have provided leadership to volunteer staff who work with our youth prevention programs; including the monitoring of outcomes. I am experienced in searching for funding opportunities and applying for funding.

Living in Alabama for the last 12 years,  has given me the opportunity to meet wonderful people and to work with some of the greatest youth in Barbour County.  My hope was to bring some new ideas and fresh perspectives to the community and make a difference. I am very excited about the challenges and changes that are ahead.  I know that one person can make a difference and with people in the community putting forth an effort, the possibilities are unlimited.  I look forward to working with you all to improve the overall well being of homeless persons in Franklin County.  They deserve nothing less than the very best.  Help me make a difference.
